This Pop Video accessory from Micron Technology turns your iPhone or iPod into pico projectors for only 99$. The Pop Video has a Built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery with up to two hours playtime.

According to PoP’s site, the 3.5 ounce peripheral’s capable of 960 x 540 video output to share your favorite photos, movies, TV programs, and video clips on the fly. Micron apparently uses something called FLCOS microdisplay technology, which is cheaper to produce and allegedly more energy efficient.

The projector is designed to be used with a free app that allows you to tweak the projector settings and project content from your iPhone or iPod.

The $99 PoP Video is up for pre-order now, but you can watch the Pop Video’s Capabilities in the video below.

<g:plusone size="medium" count="1" href="http://siteboat.com/video-home-automation-and-berkeley-freshmans-ridiculously-automated-dorm/"></g:plusone>

When some people hear the words “home automation,” they think about the Jetsons or multi-million-dollar concept homes of the future. Others think home automation is just a geek fantasy that wouldn’t add any real value to their lives. They would be wrong.

First of all let’s define Home Automation: For some it may be something as simple as remote or automatic control of a few lights. For others, security may be the central application. Still others may choose to install advanced controllers or use voice recognition. As a very basic definition, we tend to refer to home automation as anything that gives you remote or automatic control of things around the home. For Wikipedia; Home automation is the residential extension of “building automation”. It is automation of the home, housework or household activity. Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

Technology has started to have bigger roles in our lives and day to day we become more technology dependent. Most of us can’t imagine living without using technology, anymore.

The word “Home Automation” has started to become more popular nowadays. Automation appliances are cheaper and easier to implement than it was in the past.

A University of California at Berkeley freshman named Derek Low uploaded a video to YouTube of what he’s calling the “BRAD”, or the Berkeley Ridiculously Automated Dorm. Apparently, Low set out three months ago to make “the most ridiculously automated dorm room in the school ever.” That’s a hard claim to verify, but by the looks of the results which apparently only set Low back a few hundred dollars.

You should really just watch the video below; I mostly liked the party mode.

Most are able to juggle the multiple demands of school, sports, work or chores, and family life. Gaming becomes an addiction when it starts to interfere with a person’s relationships or their pursuit of other goals, such as good grades or being a contributing member of a sports team.

Game addiction is a growing problem all over the World and there are lots of video game-related health problems. I have seen on the news that a cambodian father chained up son over gaming activities. Video games addiction is responsible for serious problems.

On the other hand, latest researches show that video gaming can have good effects on our healths. This infographic shows games can do some remarkable things for your brain and body.

Most 12-year-olds love playing videogames — Thomas Suarez taught himself how to create them. After developing iPhone apps like “Bustin Jeiber,” a whack-a-mole game, he is now using his skills to help other kids become developers.

Thomas Suarez’s interest in technology and programming led him to learn Python, Java, and C “just to get the basics down.” He built an app and then coaxed his parents into paying the $99 fee to get his app, “Earth Fortune,” in the app store. Thomas also started an app club at school to help other kids build and share their creations, and is now starting his own company, CarrotCorp.

You should watch his inspiring speech at TEDx conference in Manhattan Beach, LA in the video below.

<g:plusone size="medium" count="1" href="http://siteboat.com/students-grow-with-google/"></g:plusone>

The first few weeks of college can shock your system. Many students are living away from their parents for the first time and their roommates are strangers. They may have visited the campus only once or twice before school started, are eating unidentifiable residence hall meals with the terror of gaining the “Freshman 15″ and they are entirely responsible for their own well being. And whether just starting college in a traditional campus setting or opting for the convenience of online education classes, there are ways to cope with the education transition.

Compared to high school classes, college courses require more independence. Students need to study more on their own than they did in high school, and assignments may come with less guidance from the instructor. Students are expected not only to answer the questions, but also to figure out, without necessarily being told by the professor, where to find their information. Suddenly, you’re supposed to be an expert researcher.

That may seem like a formidable request, but the good news is that it’s feasible. Even better, your transformation into a true researcher can be quick and fun. Your participation in social media can be excellent training for collaborating with your classmates to develop college-level research skills.

Common Research Difficulties

Many students are not even aware that their research techniques are inappropriate, or that they are not coming up with the most reliable information. Many students may not be using Google properly. They may not use the proper search filters or keywords, and search results are limited or from paid or unreliable sources. Students are also unfamiliar with academic databases.

Hard versus Soft Research

A great trick to help you figure out what research approaches to use is to determine whether you need soft research, hard research or both. Soft research is what you probably already do all the time when you need to look up a general idea. It is also appropriate when you need to write about people’s opinions that you might get from blog posts. In college, assignments often require hard research. Facts need to be specific, and you need to be able to point to a credible source for each fact that you include in your work.

Where to Turn

Librarians, online or on-campus writing centers and professors are all good resources for help with research. Students can also use social media to help each other improve research skills. They can create web-based files, such as in Google Docs, to compile helpful tips, resources and links to share with each other. Video chats and instant messaging let them brainstorm for resource ideas before starting their assignments.

Don’t let the thought of intimidating assignments prevent you from enrolling in college. If you’re already in college and you feel like you’re struggling, don’t get discouraged. Plenty of options are available to help you master the research skills you need, and one of your weapons can be to join forces with your classmates using your experience in social media programs.

<g:plusone size="medium" count="1" href="http://siteboat.com/android-school-is-open/"></g:plusone>

In the mobile operating system war, Apple’s iOs still dominates Worldwide but Android gained significant momentum in the last year. Android app downloads passed 10 billion mark and Android has become an important platform for developers. Android is already the world’s most widely-used operating system. The operating system now spans more than 400 devices on 231 mobile carriers in 123 countries, Google says, and the sheer number of eyeballs landing on Android screens is making the platform more appealing than ever.

Android has a volume advantage over iOS but it has an important disadvantage:

Fragmentation. Its open nature means dozens of manufacturers and more than 200 carriers globally can distribute Android phones. So different versions of the software on phones with different screen sizes, user interfaces, and capabilities all operate in the wild at once. Android users can choose from Google’s official Android Marketplace, carrier app stores, and other independent venues—each with potentially different rankings, reviews, and standards. While consumers get more choice and developers more opportunities to share their apps, the overall experience is inconsistent and potentially complicated.

In order to make it easier for Android developers to get started with creating robust applications, the Android team announced an Android Development School site: Android Training. The tutorials, or classes, are very well put together, with splits into logical steps to make them flow well, along with sample code you can utilize to “do your homework.” Thanks to Google, all the content is free and waiting for Android developer candidates.

<g:plusone size="medium" count="1" href="http://siteboat.com/report-the-rise-of-smartphones-and-mobile-web/"></g:plusone>

It’s been more than four years since Apple introduced the iPhone at the end of June, 2007. iPhone wasn’t the world’s first smartphone, but it totally flipped the mobile industry upside down. Since then, smartphones have evolved from an expensive luxury to a common tool. After iPhone, Google’s Android came and powered other manufacturers against Apple and has helped smartphone market grow. But as much as the mobile industry has grown and changed since then, it’s just getting started. In 2011, the mobile space saw profound growth and a vast array of new wireless innovations and services emerge.

Nielsen’s “State of the Media: The Mobile Media Report” provides a snapshot of the current mobile media landscape and audiences in the U.S. and highlights the potential power of mobile commerce in the near future. So what’s coming? Matt Galligan, co-founder of SimpleGeo says “In my opinion, the ‘future of mobile’ is the ‘future of everything’ “ .

Key findings From The Report:

The majority of 25-34 and 18-24 year olds now own smartphones (64% and 53% respectively);

The majority of smartphone owners (62%) have downloaded apps on their devices and games are the top application category used in the past 30 days;

The number of smartphone subscribers using the mobile Internet has grown 45 percent since 2010;

87 percent of app downloaders (those who have downloaded an app in the past 30 days) have used deal-of-the-day websites like Groupon or Living Social;

Younger groups text the most. In Q3, teens 13-17 sent and received the most text messages (an average of 3,417 each month).

For more, you can download State of the Media: The Mobile Media Report Q3 2011.

In my opinion, the future of mobile will largely be defined by creative entrepreneurs and companies that leverage the device capabilities in new and interesting ways. The next few years will be about thinking of the phone as a networked sensor. New technologies like NFC and GPS on phones and applications like Foursquare and Square will shape the future of Mobile.

We expect to see huge growth in the Smartphone and Mobile markets in the next years. Since then, I suggest Internet entrepreneurs to consider Mobile and Smartphones markets seriously to invest in time and money.

Apple just passed 10 billion app downloads in January. But thanks to the fast growth of the sale of Android phones, Google’s app downloads are growing fast.
With these numbers, Android is already the world’s most widely-used operating system. To celebrate this milestone, Google partnered with some of the Android developers who contributed to this milestone to make a bunch of great Android apps available at an amazing price. Starting today for the next 10 days, we’ll have a new set of awesome apps available each day for only 10 cents each.

The index is updated once a month. The ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers world-wide, courses and third party vendors. The popular search engines Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, YouTube and Baidu are used to calculate the ratings. Observe that the TIOBE index is not about the best programming language or the language in which most lines of code have been written.

The index can be used to check whether your programming skills are still up to date or to make a strategic decision about what programming language should be adopted when starting to build a new software system. The definition of the TIOBE index can be found here.

According to TIOBE, the most popular programming languages right now are Java, C, C++, C# and Objective-C.

What’s more, while robot’s outward appearance hasn’t changed much, it has also received a number of software upgrades, including Nuance voice recognition, an improved walking algorithm, and a number of other measures to cut down on unwanted collisions.

Interested developers will finally be able to get their hands on a bot of their own quite soon. To do so, they’ll have to sign up and quality for the just-launched Nao developer program, which costs €3,600 (or roughly $4,800) and will initially be limited to just 200 participants. That hefty price does naturally include the robot itself, along with a complete software suite, and “privileged access” to Aldebaran Robotics’ source code.

<g:plusone size="medium" count="1" href="http://siteboat.com/managing-for-one/"></g:plusone>

Every college student knows that performing well in school requires time management skills. Making time to study, learning to balance school with a job or other activities, and taking initiative are all necessary to succeed in higher education. And many successful students carry their time management habits with them into the workplace.

Developing and maintaining those habits, however, can be a challenge—and for marketing professionals, the time management skills that you may have learned in college can make the difference between a well-executed project and a rush job. Remembering the lessons you learned in school can help you prioritize tasks, manage several projects at once, and organize research effectively.

First things first

When you were a college student, it probably took a while to adjust to the new classes you took each semester, but once you figured out things like which courses required intense study time and which professors were helpful, you were able to prioritize your classes. Prioritizing is an essential approach to marketing: finding out what consumers are talking about, what products and concepts are popular, and which trends to follow can give you an edge on the competition.

To stay on top of your high-priority tasks, make a to-do list and update it throughout the day. Or you can use one of the many productivity apps available, like Evernote, to keep you on schedule and to help you shift projects as needed. Learning to prioritize can help you decide which projects to pursue and even encourage you to start trends of your own.

The truth about multitasking

While learning to handle more than one task at a time is critical to being successful both in school and in the workplace, the concept of multitasking has been overhyped. Chances are that when you were plugging along in college, studying and reading e-mail and listening to music and chatting with friends, you were actually “serial tasking,” going from one task to another quickly and repeatedly. It still requires skill, but it’s certainly not the same as doing several things at once.

How you handle multiple tasks is also tied to how you prioritize; no one can do it all, but being able to handle multiple tasks is still an important element of time management. What you think is multitasking might actually hamper your ability to be productive—and that results in lost time overall. Make a list of the tasks you think you’ll be able to transition between easily—things that can be done without much concentration or that don’t take much time—and group them together. Do the larger tasks one at a time, when you can focus.

The power of good research

Spending a little extra time on research can save you both time and effort in the long run. For assignments like term papers or group projects, some college students do the minimum amount of research, then end up having to return to the library (or the Internet) several times throughout the project. College students who have experience with online education or who enrolled in an online degree program are aware of how useful the Internet can be, both for answering quick questions and deeper, more detailed research. For marketing professionals, the Internet and social media sites can be a treasure trove of information about trending topics, popular concepts and products, and new types of marketing tactics. Take a leisurely stroll around online and gather any information you think might help you, no matter how small. By compiling a large amount of research up front, you can spend more time concentrating on your work.

Many adults say that college is nothing like the real world: there’s no pressure and no sense of urgency. Of course, those adults might have forgotten their college experiences. But marketing professionals can use their college experiences to be successful and innovative at work.

<g:plusone size="medium" count="1" href="http://siteboat.com/education-application/"></g:plusone>

With shrinking budgets, teacher layoffs, and larger classrooms, education advocates are becoming increasingly concerned that giving each child a proper education is no longer one of our country’s top priorities. It’s hard to imagine how some school systems are getting by with such small budgets. What’s even harder, however, is imagining how education would be impacted if money were no object—if every inner-city and rural school district had access to the same resources as their well-funded counterparts.

Imagine, for instance, if every student in the country were given an iPad when they step into a classroom for the first time. With their iPads, kindergarteners could work on their handwriting, typing and simple math skills. As students get older and their schoolwork becomes more advanced, they could use their devices to access the Internet for research papers and for online class discussions. College students could have their electronic textbooks uploaded automatically at the beginning of each semester and could create interactive online portfolios for their professors and potential employers. The possibilities for education, from pre-school to post-grad—are endless.

And with an iPad in the hands of every student, the educational apps available would have to: cover a whole host of subjects: apps for basic math and science, apps for literature and critical thinking, even apps for physical education. Luckily, some of those apps already exist, but in a world where technology would be the center of every child’s education, the apps would have to be wide-ranging and comprehensive. Giving each student an iPad would give them a powerful tool—but giving them the right apps would put the world at their fingertips.

Think big

With an opportunity to connect with other classes the learning environment can expand. Apps that give children a chance to meet and interact with other students from all over the country could help the children find common experiences and share ideas.

A recent science-fiction novel called Ready Player One explores this idea with OASIS, an online environment that allows students to attend an online school that simulates a real-life classroom experience. An app that creates a “traditional” school environment could help children in rural or low-income areas become more comfortable—it could also introduce students of different backgrounds and help them to meet on a level playing field.

Think local

Teaching and learning online are becoming more popular—but for now, most students attend “brick and mortar” schools in their communities or hometowns. Apps that encourage students to explore their local environment could help them learn more about the community around them and to become more involved in service learning. An app that gives a list of local charities and non-profit organizations, a list of state and federal service organizations, and ideas on how to integrate service into the classroom could help teachers and students create projects that focus on making their town a better place.

Think ahead

iPad apps to help students prepare for college entrance exams like the SAT, ACT and GRE are heavy on vocabulary and essay questions, but what if there were an app that could offer students a more immersive experience? Incorporating social media, video chat, and more traditional study techniques could make preparing for entrance exams more realistic—and that could lead to higher test scores.

There are already thousands of educational apps available for the iPad—and in classrooms all over the country teachers and students have experienced how the iPad can help facilitate education. But in a perfect world, every child would have an equal chance to receive a quality education—and the reach of the iPad would be pushed to its limits. With the right apps, the iPad could make limits obsolete

As of 2006, overseas satellite links accounted for only 1 percent of international traffic (both Internet and Voice), while the remainder was carried by undersea cable. The reliability of submarine cables is high, especially when (as noted above), multiple paths are available in the event of a cable break. Also, the total carrying capacity of submarine cables is in the terabits per second while satellites typically offer only megabits per second and display higher latency. However, a typical multi-terabit, transoceanic submarine cable system costs several hundred million dollars to construct (source:wikipedia) .

Below is an image of the recent status of undersea cables. You can also check the recently updated Submarine Cable Map Website which gives some good idea about the physical routes of these cables lying under the sea bed. This is an interactive Google map which lets you zoom-in or click on any particular colored cable to know about their respective owners.

Wearing a rigid wing powered by four model jet turbine engines, Rossy flew for eight minutes over the mile-deep trench, soaring over the red rocks before parachuting down to the Colorado River far below. It’s the latest exploit in a life powered by one dream: to fly like a bird.

Wearing his single wing, Rossy really flies, steering with the movements of his body. In the last couple of years he has crossed the English Channel, flown over the Swiss Alps and performed aerobatic loops around a hot-air balloon; for his next quest, he is developing a new kind of parachute that will enable him to fly as low as 200 meters.

Yves Rossy shared his story with the crowd at TED Global in Edinburgh, Scotland.

<g:plusone size="medium" count="1" href="http://siteboat.com/the-secret-guide-to-solar-power-wifi-charging-for-your-gadgets/"></g:plusone>

So there’s this brand-new trend working along side our attraction with the most desirable wire-less devices [1], and it’s the proper way to keep their electric batteries 100 %. With a lot of the new pads and tablet pcs, mobile phones, and notebooks the only general problem is the most easy alternative to have them energized. I started out questioning exactly what I could do with many of these various tools and now I wonder what I would do with out them. I additionally worry nighttime if I have each one of them on their proper wires and charging up for the day ahead.

When the techie items at first hit the marketplace there were wires connected with the USB slots on the laptop. This seemed like a relatively new concept for me initially. I was a lover of the benefit that one could easily connect the unit in at nighttime while verifying e mail. The sad thing is, like a lot of things, this soon became a trouble. How can I get my product with me around the house if it has to remain connected at the laptop or computer?

Afterward came the USB wall adapter. I went shopping for one of these soon subsequently after my 1st touch screen phone decision. I needed to connect it into the wall in my bed room so I would’ve it with me during the night, but I did not have anything but the Flash recharging cable to recharge it. The next thing I realised, the wall adapter was coming with most of the devices I acquired.

Over the past months, I’ve started to study and pay attention to facts regarding wifi recharging mats. From whatever I learned in the early stages, they were necessitating particular cases for the gizmos to employ them. Just lately, this was deleted. The world of wifi recharging is going to bust wide open.

We should instead place a pin in that theme. We’ll be back soon. At this point, we must talk about the importance of alternative technology [2]. Many negative people to eco-friendly technology will point out it’s tree-hugging talk to get customers to buy more expensive devices and that it’s all an absurd effort mainly because not one of the bad consequences are really happening. Even if that is correct, the exclusively headache with that point is what number of people are in the planet. As a consequence of the number of people living on the planet and how many of them using coal and natural gas structured electrical power, we’ve started to have a complication. Now give some thought to the group of them that will have kids and the way that will boost the number of people making use of electric energy and standard fuels. The best responsible thing to try and do is for scientific knowledge to promote eco-friendly opportunities at present that can become environmentally friendly requisites later [3].

That being said, ladies and gentleman, I introduce to you the very first environmentally friendly method to charge up wire-less all your mobile or portable gizmos, Panasonic’s very new solar-powered wifi recharging table. Due to be launched at the end of this year or early 2012, the brand new table will make use of solar powered energy gained by the panels on the face of the table to charge the gadgets positioned on the table! This is basically the near future of a green photovoltaic tech that is Qi enabled.

What is Qi you ask? Qi has been developed by the wifi power trust as a normal specs to be utilized by the producers of charging gizmos, like our brand new table, and the accessories which they will charge up, such as your brand new smart phone that is touchscreen technology enabled, scans guides and has a foldout full-sized keyboard. This recent Qi expertise has only existed since the beginning of this season, but people are looking forward to quick integration and a score of item releases. The use of Qi with older wire-less accessories is certain, and we will positively be seeing and hearing more info on Panasonic’s modern solar-powered wire less recharging table and lots of other Qi facilitated chargers sooner.

If you need to explore more about solar energy and ways to integrate it in your daily life I want to propose you these other solutions:

- [1] Here you can evaluate more in detail the info about the photovoltaic table. On Youtube.com I’ve found the Japan shop 2011 tour that displays the solar power recharging table and other products and services displayed in Tokyo, Japan.

- [2] Here you can have a clear point of view on how to use solar energy to power most device’s battery packs (i.e. cell phone, vehicle batteries, etc…). If you are not able to pay the expense to set up a non commercial pv system, it might be a great 1st step to introduce you to solar panel systems. 12voltsolarpanels.net is a free blog site monitored by Hettie that provides her stories to help people make the passage from a full-time electricity dependence to a productive electricity efficiency. She presents some high quality tips on rv solar panel reviews to help mobile home enthusiasts re-charge their battery packs and study how a solar panel works to facilitate the use of solar energy panels in their properties and other items.

- [3] If you possibly can spend the money for the investment to setup solar energy panels for use on your property (or are eligible for solar tax credits or refunds), here some stories to help you learn how solar energy panels work and the ways to combine them in your life. Residentialsolarpanels.org is a non-profits blog website managed by Shannon. She is an independent article writer and practitioner on pv for residential utilization. If you ever feel the need to learn more about solar energy panels I offer you to browse this guide regarding the solar energy costs.

With the help of a weather-ballon they launched the carrier from New York and it reached upper stratosphere just an hour later.

At 19 miles height, the helium gas inside the balloon expanded and the balloon burst because of low pressure and the carrier started to fall back to the ground with the parachute deployed. The carrier landed 30 miles outside New York and the iPhone transmitted its position with its GPS module so Father and son picked it up.

I think, Apple and Steve Jobs must award this success. You can check their website Brooklyn Space Program and also watch the journey of the iPhone to the outer space in the video below.

McKinley should have seen the Patent Wars between Tech Giants.
For high technology companies, no measure is more important than getting new products into the markets ahead of the increasing competition. In the high-tech business, Speed-to-Market has become an essential factor for survival. But as the accelerated new product development process goes on, some products become similar and companies start to sue each other for patent infringement.
The graphic below, shows lawsuits between famous technology companies because of patent litigations. Although patent litigation is not new in the technology world, these suits, specifically around mobile, point to the drastically changing mobile landscape. Because mobile technology was still in its infancy and these large technology companies aree trying to stake their claim to the future of mobile computing.

<g:plusone size="medium" count="1" href="http://siteboat.com/tweeting-for-the-environment/"></g:plusone>

Celebrated yearly on 5 June, World Environment Day (WED) is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action. WED was firstly established by the UN General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. The theme for 2009 is climate change and the broader consequences of environmental change, and what societies can do in response.

Combating climate change and preserving ecosystems services that underpin our economies is an issue for everyone. Every individual’s efforts, no matter how small, can contribute to the sustainable development of our economies and communities around the world.

On this day, individuals, non-governmental organizations, community and youth groups, business, industry and the media organize activities to renew their commitments to protect and develop the environment. They organize activities such as clean-up campaigns, tree planting, colourful street rallies, green concerts, essay and photo competitions in schools, and recycling efforts.

Internet has an important effect for the announcement of these types of activities. Especially; as social networking platforms get more popular, we see different examples of “How Social Networking Can Change The World” . Individuals, communities and organizations use social networking as a fast and reliable tool to reach targeted people. The community-driven web can really make a difference.

There are easy ways of using social media to try to change the world for a good cause. One of them is publishing a blog post on a universal topic, as i do. One another way is tweeting with a purpose. An example for tweeting with a purpose is United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) “Twitter for trees” campaign. UNEP has a platform called “UNEP and You” – an on-going social networking platform for environmental activism. UNEP has pledged to plant 100,000 trees for 100,000 followers– or one for every follower if we can achieve more than 100,000– by World Environment Day, 5 June. This effort supports the UNEP – Billion Tree Campaign’s goal to plant a total of seven billion trees- 1 for every person on the planet- by year’s end.Add your voice and tweet loudly www.twitter.com/UNEPandYou to help the environment!

We’ve seen how social media is good for business. It helps build a brand, drives traffic and awareness and builds out communities. But, what we’ve also seen is social media bringing together people to lend their time to important causes on a global level. By using the sites we live on every day-why not use all of these friends and followers to do something good? With the help from online communities this process can become even easier, and the results can be nearly instantaneous.
